Sustainable and Handcrafted Design Companies We Love

It’s always exciting to stumble upon those brands and products that you adore. Finding companies that produce sustainably or handcraft with care and consideration is the cherry on top. Rather than buying mass-produced items, it’s essential to take the time to research and purchase from local, eco-friendly, artisans who take pride in every step of the craft. Below is a list of a few of our favorite brands that are creating gorgeous pieces, in a conscientious, well-intentioned way.

LRNCE is a Marrakesh lifestyle and interior decor brand founded by Belgian Laurence Leenaert. He repurposes materials and creates pieces uniquely designed with intriguing combinations and elements. LRNCE sources its production in North Africa, honoring the importance of craftsmanship and is involved with the hands-on process during the creations of each handmade product. We always admire a founder’s dedication to the craft of their products. Also, the bold, eye-catching details on each piece, especially make us want to book our next trip to Morocco!

JuJu Papers

Juju Papers is a design studio based out of Portland, Oregon that prides itself in developing a gorgeous line of unique wallpapers. They craft all of their papers with as little of an impact on the environment as possible. Founded by Avery Thatcher, “Every roll is printed by hand, is untrimmed, and in most cases has been made to order. We print with water-based inks on creamy, durable, sustainably harvested paper,” she says. We can’t get enough of these sustainably sourced, fun, and original prints.

cc-tapis is an Italian company that designs contemporary hand-knotted rugs created in Nepal by expert Tibetan artisans. Founded by Nelcya and Fabrizio Canton and inspired by the traditional Persian carpet store Maison Chamszade, cc-tapis draws on a long history of producing artisanal rugs in the area. They approach each stage of production in an eco-friendly, sustainable way, while always maintaining a deep respect for the Tibetan culture and history. Not only are these rugs beautiful, but knowing they have such a vibrant, ethical story behind them makes them all the more captivating!
